About Autumn

Autumn Lee is a multimedia artist who grew up in the UK, and is now based in Sacramento California. She holds an AA in Art from American River College, a BFA in Design from University of California, Davis and is currently working on her MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from University of Nevada, Reno. Autumn creates in multiple mediums, though she usually incorporates at least one of her two biggest focuses, textiles and photography. Textiles was her first love, starting at age 8 with embroidery, and expanding into other textile art as time passed. She has spent the last 4 decades working in fiber art, and there is little to do with fiber that she has not tried. Photography is a more recent passion, though she has been working with this medium for nearly a decade.

Autumn’s work can take many themes, but often focuses around nature, paganism and spirituality, or social justice- explicitly circling feminine or LGBTQ themes in the current political climate. When creating, Autumn first chooses a theme to work with, then uses the media that is best suited for the theme and what she wants to do with it. Due to her process, materials can vary wildly. However, layering and patchwork are often seen within her work, showing her signature style. Her work has been shown in several places, including the SMUD gallery, the Crocker Art Museum, and the 57th Motherlode Show at MACC as well as several others.
